STORYTIME: A One-Eyed Cat

Last May, I bought a one-eyed cat for twenty bucks.

Allow me to introduce my favorite nutcase who chomps my toes and runs around like a 5 year old... Popeye the Sailor Cat.

When I was a kid, my family took in tons of strays, which meant that I was surrounded by all sorts of animals throughout my entire childhood. Even though we had 8 cats, 1 parrot, and 4 dogs, I‘d never had one that I could claim was “mine” versus being a family pet. While being cat-less was manageable throughout my college career, being cooped up alone in a small apartment during quarantine was more than enough encouragement to finally getting a feline–the hunt to find a calm, cuddly cat began.

That said, I definitely did not get what I was looking for because the 'lil guy I got was violent and energetic as a mf.

Fun fact: I never got to meet him before I bought him due to COVID procedures and was relying on a written description of his personality that claimed he was "great for those looking for a lap cat and sweet friend". Despite not letting me pet him without him transforming into a violent whirlwind, I refused to give him back since he’d been transferred between shelters and returned once already. Even though this mini monster was definitely not the cuddly cat I’d had my heart set on, he’s become the best entertainment I could have ever asked for and his lunatic ways have me laughing every day. And, after four months, thank god, this 'lil spitfire has finally started letting me cuddle him at night.

He's got a great sense of fashion with his handsome tuxedo and all he's missing is a bowtie... And you know, maybe an eye :)
